Even though Mass Effect 3 hasn’t yet hit store shelves, there’s already talk about what the next step could possibly be for everyone’s favourite space opera. And it seems that the good folk at Bioware, never ones to pass up a good shot of publicity, have taken this moment to stoke a couple of fires.
Regarding gamers soon-to-exist ME3 save files, associate producer Mike Gamble warned plays to keep them close, stating “Obviously I can’t say anything, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea.”
While it’s more than likely Gamble’s statement is nothing more than an innocent reminder that yes, in fact there will be downloadable content for Mass Effect 3, it’s also an easy mental exercise to imagine a future game bearing the Mass Effect placard. Though it’s been confirmed that ME3 will be the last step in Commander Shephard’s grand journey, I can’t imagine a world where Bioware, and more importantly EA, simply lets sleeping dogs lie, and doesn’t push forward another profitable-yet-all-too-likely-rushed Mass Effect 4.
…And now I’ve just spent the last ten minutes making up bad subtitles for a new Mass Effect,. including Mass Effect Fourever, Mass Effect: The Next Generation, and Mass Effect: Wrex’s Revenge. Though on reflection I’d probably buy that last title day one.
