And you people thought video games were misogynistic. Boy, I bet you all must feel silly now, huh.
Announced earlier this week, and straight from the “I have to laugh because otherwise I’m going to cry” news bag, game developer Yuke’s (known for the creation of such luminary titles as WWE 13 and Rumble Roses, which I believe is one of those titles which if you own puts you on some government watch list) announced through a press release that they will be developing the game adapation for “the fastest growing sports league” in the United States.
Though its bad enough, from a personal point of view, that such a thing as a lingerie football league exists, it gets downright unsettling when the press release includes such quotation gems as their”focus on capturing the essence of the intensity, speed, beauty (my emphasis) and on-the-field action of LFL Football”. I’d almost feel less weird if they didn’t talk around what the game really was, and just came out and said “You want to look at breasts and play football? We got your non-judemental hook-up right here!” Though the press release also states that “The core global fan base of the LFL, which consists of nearly 60-percent Men, 18-34, perfectly aligns with the gaming world’s target market”, which is something I could’ve told you.
Other than the game’s announcement, there is very little other information about this assured blockbuster. No producer has been announced, no information on which platform(s) it’s to be released on, nor an estimated release time frame. In my humble opinion, this feels like a title that will likely die a silent death in the upcoming months, though, as previously mentioned, those damn Rumble Roses games exist, so I suppose anything is possible.
