After seeing the previous Nintendo versions of nearly all the other Call of Duty games have resulted in, Activision has decided to try hard anyways by announcing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to have a Wii release. The game’s planned to come out on the same day as the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions, and there’s no current knowledge whether it’s the same game on a different console, or different altogether.
As much as I like seeing larger corporations trying to use the Wii, it’s easy to predict how terribly this version of the game will turn out compared to the others. Simply enough, designing something for the Wii causes an accidental mindset; because it’s a whole different controller and a whole different audience, and most teams try to treat it differently when bringing their games to the little white console. It’s why all the Wii versions of several multi-platform games haven’t been nearly as good as the others (please see Star Wars: Forced Unleashed for reference).
Considering the history of what they’re going to do, Activision deserves a lot of doubt and skepticism from all of us. Nonetheless, Modern Warfare 3 will be coming out for Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 8th.
